Our History

The first hot dog carts were imported from New York City in the late 70’s, street food was a fad of NYC. Toronto had nothing of this crazy NYC scene…yet. A few visionaries saw an opportunity and took the chance by purchasing some of the older NY style carts. My parents were one of these visionaries. Arriving from Greece jobs were scarce for newcomers , this opportunity to open a hot dog stand was serendipitous opportunity . They bought one of the older NY style carts and started vending outside the Toronto Eaton Center. In those days this was all new, the City of Toronto had no rules or regulations, thus it was like the wild west, whoever got there first got to work.Eventually the rules were streamlined and  laws were put in place. We decided to become licensed and got our permit to sell. I remember as a kid the NY style carts only had steamers and the hot dogs came in 2 sizes, 1.50 for the regular or 2$ for the footlong. Like classic NYC style the vendor would dress your dog and send you on your way. The years went by and rules changed, now we can also sell sausages which were not allowed then, hot dog carts were changed, new ones came out with BBQs, and menus were changed for ever. We always had the standard All beef hot dog, but now we have pork sausages on buns, Spicy italian style, mild Polish style, and mild German. The people of Toronto embraced us, we added chicken hot dogs to the menu and now offer a vegetarian hot dog option. People who eat here once, keep coming back, we are constantly lauded on our food, taste, and customer service.
